Radio button & simple text field types displayed in same item

I'm creaeting a survey where one of the questions requires the user to specify "other" behavior by filling in a simple text field, and to ALSO make a radio button selection (see visual example below).

Where it says "Uddyb", user should type in text, then select a radio button.

How do I set this up on the designer interface? As far as I can see, I'm limited EITHER a radio button config OR a text field. Hope I am wrong? Please advise.

     Meredith,

you want this in the admin interface ? If so, I'd look into how to build a custom datatype. More info on custom datatypes can be found on umbraco.tv... and there's some useful info on Tim's blog (he's done some presentations on making custom datatypes)

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,

    Hi Dirk,

General comment about the forum http://our.umbraco.org/forum/umbraco-pro/contour/20362-Radio-button-simple-text-field-types-displayed-in-same-item

Your reply via email does not appear on the topic I posted online. It's been a week, shouldn't it? I'm quite a newbie at Umbraco, so I have some follow up questions to your post for clarity. When you ask me if I want "this in the admin interface" - do you mean "the backend" (snapshot of the interface I am using is below):

I watched some of the video http://umbraco.com/help-and-support/video-tutorials/developing-with-umbraco/data-editor-settings/creating-a-configurable-db-driven-dropdownlist . However, I have no experience in visual studio. Is this type of data field ONLY possible with that level of programming? If so, Tim’s blog advice is totally out of my league, so I’ll have to get one of our developers on the task.

Please just clarify whether it is possible to set the data type I want using the admin interface (as shown above) or if someone with programming knowledge needs to be involved.

Many thanks from your friendly neighborhood luddite J
