Posting forms is slow, up to 10 seconds (4.11.8 + 3.0.9)

We have installed the 3.0.9 version of Contour in a 4.11.8 umbraco site, and we've noticed that posting a form can take a very long time of up to 10 seconds, even for a simple form with just a few fields. The umbraco site is running on MVC and we're using the Razor macro in a RTE to insert forms into pages.

We've performed some tests and can rule out our single custom email workflow as the cause (turning it off results in no speed increase, emails are actually at times received before the thank you message page is shown in the browser). We've also tried a different server to see if this helped as well as checking server and database load on posting a form. The results from these tests were regrettably not very enlightening.

I hope you can help us with this issue! Has this perhaps occured before, if so is there a fix? If you need more information/specs please let me know!

    Hey Thomas,

That seems strange, but can't really think of a reason why it would be that slow, mind sending me the login details to the site so I can take a look?

And if you remove all workflows does it still behave that slow?

Just checked some older tickets and in other cases it was due to an smtp server ...

    Tim,

I recently found that email workflow was slowing things down so I turned that off as it was not needed and things speeded up quite significantly.

    Regards

    Ismail

Yup also seen cases that the smtp was causing the delay... so most likely it's the same issue

I mailed you the login credentials for the site :)

It's not the e-mail workflow, as I've already tried turning that off. Additionally sometimes the e-mail is received before the page is received again.
