When using prevalues and source as umbraco documents we get in forms the node id and not text of the node, was it in contour >3.0.6 that this was updated so you got text of node. I recall with really old versions of umbraco you had to implement post processing with workflow.
Yeah since you are using a pretty old version... in your workflow you can check if it's an int if it is then do additional processing... (fetching the value from the id)
But you can of course just create a custom prevalue sourcetype and deploy that if upgrading isn't an option (just just be copy paste with a little update if you start from the shared sourcecode)

Hmm can't see it in the changes doc http://nightly.umbraco.org/Umbraco%20Contour/changes.txt but 3.0.6 is the max you can get on 4.7.0
