I was just alerted to a client situation where after 2 years, the contour section just took a walk and is completely gone. Forms are functioning on the front end of the site, in the dashboard...completely gone.
The package is installed, the DLLs present, all the dashboard config entries are as they should be. If I try to manally navigate to the contour dashboard, I just get a bank screen. In the users section, contour is mising from the list of sections.
Restarted IIS, recyled app pool, deleted client dependency temp files....
Update and solved. The server ran out of disk space. For some reason the /umbraco/applications.config file went to 0kb and therefore nuked all the sections in the back office. An old file was used to restore the file without contour defined inside it. Added back <add alias="contour" name="Umbraco Contour" icon="contour.png" sortOrder="7" />, recyled the app-pool and we are up and running.
