I see I typed 'Umbraco as a service', I ment of course 'Courier as a service' :)
I have a virtual server on which I host multiple websites. So I guess in my case 'Courier as a service' would be interesting. Although I also read that one can by a Courier license and than buy additional licenses for 99 Euro.

I can't remember the exact price model but I think there is a plan to make it possible to turn courier on and off if you're using it on multiple sites. It sounded very promising and flexible! :-)
Thanks for the link. I had already seen this video through the Twitter message that Per had posted. But it looks indeed very promising.
I just wonder, I have a virtual server that I rent. Is it in this scenario also useful to have a Courier license?
My second question is how to enable a development-staging-production deployment scenario. For instance, is it possible to localy develop an Umbraco website on my development machine, then deploy it with Courier on a staging server (for instance my own virtual server) and then deploy it with Courier from my staging server to the production server of the customer?
If I do remember correctly the demo at the DK festival they showed how to do a deploy using SVN - So I'm pretty sure it should be possible to do a deploy from a local machine to a server - otherwise it would be a bit useless, right? :-) - I just think that Per would like to make a simple demo of how one can use Courier.
But we will know much more in january - but I think it will be the answer to all our deployment woes and I'm excited about this release (I think many people are).
Courier as a service
Hi I read on this blog post ( http://umbraco.org/follow-us/blog-archive/2010/12/1/codegarden-11-ticket-sale-have-started ) about 'Courier as a service'.
I wonder when this will become available.

Hi Anthony
I think the release is going to happen soonish. According to the text on the last bullet in the link below it says it will ship at the end of his year. I'm guessing that it may be some days into the new one though :-) http://umbraco.org/follow-us/blog-archive/2010/11/20/danish-umbraco-festival

Hi Jan,
Thanks for your reply.
I'll start with a new Umbraco website in Januari. So it would be nice if the 'Umbraco as a service' license is available by that time.

Hi Anthony
Yes that would be awesome. Saw the demo at the DK festival and it looks very promising. So I'm also excited to get some experience with it :-)

Hi Anthony
Don't know if you caught this on twitter but Per is showing a nice demo of courier 2.0 here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3498919/5.swf
(I'm drooling right now ;-))

Hi Anthony
These are some good questions.
