I have a requirement to manipulate Examine search results as follows:
Ensure that any news articles are ranked within results in date order or at least some sort of priority is given to newer articles
Manually promote specific documents for specific search terms
Promote certain doctypes over others
On #1 the reason for this being that old news articles dominate results for some searches when the new articles are considered more relevant. I'm not sure if I am overthinking this one but have no idea at present how to achieve this in Examine.
On #2 we already have a keyword field for editors to assign keywords to documents and are then attempting to boost matches on that property but it still doesn't seem to be having the desired effect and other documents are still ranking above them.
On #3 I think this should be relatively straight forward by boosting on the nodeTypeAlias?
I'm hoping by throwing this out there that someone may have had similar requirements and can perhaps trigger an idea or offer some advice on the best approach.
