    Intermittent crashes in backend tree

Because we all love intermittent errors!

We've found that in some circumstances the node tree on the left crashes in google chrome - first it hangs - then chrome alerts "Page unresponsive". (Refreshing the page fixes the problem)

While there are no hard and fast rules about this, it seems to occur more frequently when you are deeply in a node structure - say level 3 or 4 - then switch to another node using the little down arrow to open it. This happens about one in every 5 times so as you can imagine it's quite frustrating.

My colleague has noted that the crash also occurs when adding new nodes - say you have a level three node and you add 8 level 4 nodes below it will work fine until you add the 9th node then it hangs as before.

Happy to help try and debug/solve the problem, but not sure where to start looking as its in the backend. Note that our installation has alot of doctypes, surface controllers and all other sorts of funky stuff going on so it may be specific to us

Has anybody else noticed this behaviour?

    Many Thanks
