Essentially the V8 release is a bit of a reset of the codebase for Umbraco, in order to move forwards into the future... having less backwards compatibility or diverse scenarios to maintain enables them to iterate more quickly and with less chance of breaking things, so MVC is the preferred approach moving forwards...

Hi all
I just want to know if it's possible to use Web form user controls in umbraco 8 and if it does act as webforms usually does with html and codebehind?
Does it also have any pros and cons? such as when to use them and when not to?

Umbraco have removed support for WebForms in V8, there is a discussion here about it's removal:
