I am administrating an Umbraco site that is running 7.5.13. Our DBA is talking about upgrading all our MS SQL Servers to 2019. As I understand it, 2019 deprecates the SQL data types of text, image, and ntext. Since Umbraco 7 requires those data types, then we are going to have an issue.
Will I need to do the fairly involved migration to version 8?
Does Umbraco 7 support MS SQL Server 2019?

Hi Glen,
I believe you should be okay, it would be worth spinning up a test site quickly to confirm.
The ntext data type is used by Umbraco which is now flagged as depreciated, but I believe is still present in 2019 so you should be okay.

Yes for sure.
I have a live Umbraco 7 website with SQL Server 2019, there is nothing to worry about.
Anyway, I would like to reinstall the database to let SQL Server convert it by itself.
I have the same issue, thanks
