Use custom index per domain/root node (Examine/Lucene)

I have one Umbraco installation with multiple websites. So e.g. 3 root nodes, with different domain names assigned. This is giving me examine index erros, write locks and stuff like that, probably a server setup thing. But I don't own the server, so can't fix this. By default there is an external index and internal index, but I was wondering if I could have an external/internal index per root node.

So far I have created a composer and I've succesfully got a "CustomIndex" showing up in the backoffice under Settings > Examine Management. But I don't know where to go from here. How can I "assign" this index to one of the root nodes, so when editing nodes, saving and publishing, this is the index where the magic happens.

RootNode A - Custom index A. Editing nodes here will use this index.

RootNode B - Custom index B. Editing nodes here will use this index.

This way the websites would be entirely split up, so they don't share the same index files in the TEMP folder, and think this will solve everything and make it a happy christmas:) But is it possible?
