I found the following article which contains info about Umbraco 7, but not 6. "We will continue to provide security updates for version 7 until September 23rd, 2023."
Thanks for your reply. The articles suggests that Umbraco (were) are still providing security/bugfix patches for version 6. Although surely this will end no later than v7 (23/09/2023).
Perhaps I'll need to contact them directly for a response
Sorry that you didn't get the answer you were looking for.
I was curious about the dates, so did some quick calculations...
I'm not sure where the 23rd September 2023 date was decided - I couldn't find anywhere that said whether a new major version release would invoke an EOL date on the prior version.
e.g. v8.0.0 was released on 22nd February 2019, so if that was the trigger for v7 EOL, that'd be 4 years 7 months (or 1674 days). Again, not sure if the v8.0.0 release date is the starting point? But still over 4 years supporting the previous major version.
Applying the same logic, v7.0.0 was released on 21st November 2013... and 1674 days later... would be 22nd June 2018.
Not sure any of this helps you. Guessing upgrading isn't an option for you?
Thanks Lee you've been really helpful. Upgrading probably isn't an option for us, but as least we have the information now to make an informed decision.
Umbraco 6 - support lifecycle
Hi there,
Is there a published lifecycle for Umbraco 6?
I found the following article which contains info about Umbraco 7, but not 6. "We will continue to provide security updates for version 7 until September 23rd, 2023."
https://umbraco.com/blog/umbraco-product-update-september-9th-2019/
Specifically, I'd like to know when security updates for version 6 will stop.
Thanks Ben
Hi Ben,
The last patch release for Umbraco 6 was v6.2.6 in March 2016.
The corresponding blog post is no longer available on the Umbraco blog, but it is available via archive.org: https://web.archive.org/web/20160615025815/https://umbraco.com/follow-us/blog-archive/2016/3/31/umbraco-626-available-now/
The patch release prior to that, v6.2.5, was in Feb 2015.
I couldn't find anything official to say v6 support is over, but I'd assume that it is.
Regards,
- Lee
Update: Found a 2014 blog post... https://web.archive.org/web/20140803033111/http://umbraco.com/follow-us/blog-archive/2014/4/28/what-are-we-up-to.aspx

I contacted Umbraco who have confirmed that Umbraco 6 is no longer receiving security updates.
Dennis Aaen: "We have stopped the security update for Umbraco 6 way back, and we will do the same for version 7 until September 23rd, 2023"
