Upgrading from v8 to aspnet core

What is the planned upgrade path from v8 to aspnet core when it is released?

I'm on mobile so maybe I missed it but where on your link does it mention upgrading a v8 site to core?

The question is important because if it is like the v7 to v8 upgrade where you have to rebuild everything they should let everyone know now.

It explains about the status of the Umbraco transition to .NET Core. You just cannot upgrade V8 to Core. That will be version 9 I guess.

Is that the official position of the Umbraco HQ that there will be no upgrade path from v8 to core? No migration tools, nothing?

IIRC the database schema will remain the same, so you can bring your v8 database into a new vNext solution.

That is somewhat encouraging that the DB won't change at all so presumably if we ignore packages we should be able to copy the views into a vnext project and point to an existing v8 site db and it should work out of the box?

This doesn't seem to work in the current alpha 2 release though. Is there any official documentation published anywhere on this?
