    Umbraco Dictionary

    Hi there

I am quite surprised how well and easily multilingualism is embedded in Umbraco. Wow!

But what I don't understand what the dictionary is for. Is that how I fetch single values in C# and then I don't need localization anymore?

I'm also thinking of using Microsoft Translater. That's where I found the package. Does anyone have experience with it?

The Dictionary is used for when you have hard-coded text or labels on a page, which are not content managed or editable in the CMS backoffice, but you need to localise this text.

e.g. if you had a button that said "Search" in your header that is shared across the whole website, and the text of that button is not editable by your editors. If your site was available in English and French, you'd want your French version to show the translated value for the button.

You can see how to reference the Dictionary in a template by using the UmbracoHelper here:
