How to customize an existing website in another laptop

    Hello lovely people,

I recently have taken over a website build by a client (in Umbraco) and the only information I have are the login credentials as admin for the website.

I am new to Umbraco that's why your answers to my simple questions are very helpful.

Just want to know what I need in order to customize an existing website and probably install its content on my laptop.

    Hello Israel

If you have admin access to the Umbraco backend, you can change templates, CSS, JSS, content, and doctypes.

But, you are not able to change compiled code. To make changes in compiled code, you need the source code of the project and Visual Studio.

What Umbraco version are you using?

    Thanks,

    Alex

    Hello there Alex,

    Thank you for your reply.

    The version is 8.5.3.

You mentioned that I would need the code that built the website... Wouldn't it be possible to do customization after logging in just like when I use WordPress? I was hoping they'd be the same thing. Login into the website, have an option to customize it and so on.
