IIS Rewrite rules bring down Umbraco

Has anyone had any issue with what appears to be the IIS Rewrite Module not being installed on the Cloud Server environment?

When I enable the Rewrite rules section in the web.config file, it brings the Umbraco down completely in my "Live" environment.

I have deployed the config changes to both my "Development" and "Staging" environments and all works as expected.

The issue only affects the "Live" environment.

I have to redeploy my web.config without the Rewrite rules in place to get the "Live" environment back up and running.

I've seen this happen on a local IIS when the IIS Rewrite Module has not been installed but according to the Cloud documentation, IIS Rewrite Module is installed on all Cloud instances.

    Hi all,

If anyone comes across this issue, it turns out in my case, it was due to me trying to have my rewrite rules in an external file and using the configSource option to point to the file.

I was advised by Umbraco Support that this was an "old" method.

Once I moved the rules directly into the web.config file, the issue was resolved.
