What is the next step because it still says "No data received from your website yet.
To start collecting data, make sure that your website is tagged using the Measurement ID:G-SEM65RG60N"
Hi all,
This stuff is from 2022 but I wanted to put in some information as this shows up in google searches.
If you migrate and setup through Analytics for GA4 it uses tag manager but what it does is create a locked down Tag Manager. It is literally just there to get GA4 there so you can not really utilise all the Tag Manager features you would really want to do. It is just a quick setup way.
In Tag manager there is an easy to setup tag for GA4 and then install the tag manager code into your site.
As another note - Google initially said that existing Data Layer setups like for eCommerce will just work under G4. This is very misleading and more modern guides on eCommerce tracking for example that are out there will show you very different Datalayer setups that are required.
It should be a rule of thumb of any third party code, tracking or anything else you then do in tag manager. This means there is just one script (Tag Manager) and everything from Ad words, facebook or live chat scripts are running through this.
I'm so fed up with the complexity of Analytics from Google in general, and GA4 completely.
Currently looking into various alternatives (payed though, but still cheap), like:
Simple Analytics
Matomo
Fathom
Google Analytics just has SO much overkill if you want some simple tracking solution for just events/pageviews. I can definitly recommend a different solution.
With Umbraco taking on Vendr for example it shows they are listening and looking to offer more addon products for the platform.
I think a built in analytics either by default or as another package is something they should defiantly look at.
Just those basic views, user flow, visitor information is something most people just really need. Being able to have Razor tags to add on links to say "Track this" to flow into that as well for example.
The NEW Google Analytics 4
Hi Umbracians,
I already have installed a UA Google Analytics on our website. But now I want to upgrade to the new GS4.
I have tried to do it via Google Tag Manager but still won't connect.
Anybody knows how to a smart way and make it work?
What does your Google Tag Manager look like for GA4? It should only be a matter of a new property
It looks like this :)
Did you submit it? On the top right it shows 1 change that hasn't been submitted yet
What is the next step because it still says "No data received from your website yet. To start collecting data, make sure that your website is tagged using the Measurement ID:G-SEM65RG60N"
Is your main Tag even added in the HTML ?
Contact Google?
Or do you have some adblockers installed locally ;-)
It works now. I guess that I just had to add the code snippet for Google Tag Manager GS4 :)
From my experience with GA issues, don't forget to publish it :-)
How to publish it? :)
Hope this is the correct page :-P
