Hi
I am fairly new to Umbraco so this might be a dumb question.
I have a website deployed via IIS on my VPS but I am wondering how can I now make updates?
If I make changes locally, how can I push all these changes to my site on my server? What is a correct workflow for this?
I hope my question is clear! Thanks for any help.
I am pretty new to Umbraco as well, but I think you can use tools like USync
https://our.umbraco.com/packages/developer-tools/usync/
to move all the properties and document types from your local database to the live database and you should be able to publish your files through VS as long as you have your environments set up.
That seems interesting! But I can't install the plugin on the live website? Or should I first install it locally then publish it again on IIS?
Hi Nanou,
Yes you will need to install locally and re-publish.
Ok thanks! But does the plugin also make database changes? Or can I just republish the files?
You should just have to republish.
