For the love of god, can we please sort out the media library!

There is no other folder / file structure in the world that treats the sorting of files and folders at the same level. Every other system lists folders first, then files. Create a new sub-folder and it goes to the bottom of the sort order (which includes the files in that folder?!??!?). This has been going on since the beginning of time and clients spend there days making an absolute hash of their media library because folders aren't listed at the top of the sort order and kept seperate to files!?!?! Considering all of the updates that go on how does stuff like this get missed?

This is still an issue along with a few other things that need changing.

    1. Folders first regardless
    2. Sort option. By default newest come last so we at least need a control option we can set for sort order so we can do sort by ,date asc, date dec, name
    3. On the picker sometimes things are files etc so we need an option on the picker to configure if we have grid or list view options and which one is default.

I'm not sure if there's any packages currently available that can facilitate in the organisation of the media library, but you could pass along your ideas and suggestions to the Umbraco team here: https://github.com/umbraco/Umbraco-CMS/discussions/categories/features-and-ideas. You never know what it may bring in the future!

Quick tip, untick "Allow as root" on everything other than folders, then you at least don't get the root filled with junk :)

That is a good tip and will do that! Still think the core problem needs resolved.
