How do I edit HTML in the CMS view

    Hi! Newbie here.

I've recently taken over responsibility for a website built on Umbraco, and the previous marketing assistant has left. I need to edit the HTML to add some tracking tags but can't find where I can edit this within the CMS.

Please, can anyone point me in the right direction?

    Thank you!

Hi Rachel and welcome to our :)

Unfortunately the answer to your question might not be a straight forward as you had hoped.

Most people who frequent these forums are developers so most often there is a lot of tech stuff being written in here - So forgive me if I loose you at some point since you're an editor who may not know how to code (and should not know either).

The thing with Umbraco is that it's a platform, which developers and companies can build their website on top of - This means that the website features implemented can differ a lot from for instance Wordpress based websites since one does not get any tools out of the box. Developers build and implement websites differently on Umbraco.

The feature you're asking for might or might not exist in your current implementation depending on what the project scope was once the site was build and implemented.

Perhaps there is a special field somewhere in one of the pages/nodes in the "Content" section where scripts can be placed but perhaps there is not.

If I were in your position I would try to get in touch with the developer or the company that made the site and ask them for advice since they're the ones who know the implementation best and can better guide you.

If you can't get hold of them for some reason then perhaps try getting in touch with a certified Umbraco partner in your area and ask if they can help perhaps? On the partner page here http://umbraco.com/certified-partners you can find solution providers and certified developers.

    I hope this helps.

    /Jan

    Hi Jan

...and thank you very much for your response. Whilst I have basic HTML skills I can see from your response that it's likely what i'm trying to will be out of my reach :-/ It appears the build of our CMS has locked down elements such as these, (and likely for good reason!)

We do have a partner, they just charge us £750 a day for edits so was hoping adding tags was something I could do myself.

Back to the drawing board..! Rachel
