We're trying to upgrade our Umbraco instance, which has the 7.1.9 version, towards a 7.2.8 version.
In VS we managed to do it with a NuGet Package.
On server, when we try to do the upgrade by copying the bin, Umbraco & Umbraco_Client folders, some features are not edited.
The Grid is not added to the data types, The views for it as well.
We're having the feeling we overlooked something.
Anyone has a helping hand about how to handle these upgrades without any mistakes like these?
You have most likely not ran the upgrade installer on your server, which I describe in detail how it works and why you must run it on your server in that second blog post.
Out of curiosity: why would you not go striaght to 7.4.2?
It worked!
I did everything all over again, this time the upgrade went succesful.
I can't really say what i did differently the first time, i have the feeling i did everything like it should.

I'm trying it right now! I'll let you know what came out at the end of it.
Well, to answer on you curiosity question, Since our local version is 7.2.8, we want to keep it on that for the moment.
In a later stage, we'll start upgrading to 7.4.2
