Umbraco.tv - Umbraco V7 - Content Editor - Creating Content - Creating a Blog Post - Clarity Questions
Hi all,
So I made a search to find my answers to this but with no luck so I started a thread. Definitely direct me to the answer if it exists or answer me here. Much appreciated!
Showing Content Editors how to create a blog post. How does an Implementor/Developer surface this onto the CMS? Is this blog feature built in to Umbraco v7 from the beginning or is it a package we have to install like Articulate?
The reason I am curious is the current and existing project I am working on does not have this blog feature in place and I was curious if its some switch I need to turn on to make it happen or why the video is showing that content editors can create blogs when there isn't that feature already?
The existing project I am working on is Umbraco v7.4.1
Hi Raymond and welcome to the Umbraco developer forum also known as "Our" :)
The blog package does not come out of the box when installing or developing Umbraco. I'm not sure what blog-package is being shown in the video but I suppose it's to show how it can be. Which indeed can be confusing what it's not installed by default. Not sure why it's been shown but perhaps it's to show editors some of the concept Umbraco is using when it comes to managing content.
If you need a blog on your current site then Articulate is probably the best current option - There are other blog packages but I'm not sure whether they're up to date or not.
But it's of course also possible to have a tailermode blog section made that fullfills your needs a 100% if what Articulate offers you out of the box is not fulfilling your needs.
But it's not something that is shipped out of the box with Umbraco.
Thank you for the quick reply Jan! I kind of figured after searching around that there was no built in blog but definitely was confused after seeing the video. But good to know that I am not going insane and thinking that trying to switch on the option for a blog within Umbraco straight out of the box was possible.
