Just started picking up 7.4, and was looking at the property editor and am just a little confused why the editor has it's own name - what am I missing here? And it has to be unique?
The reason that the property editors has ther own names is becaus as soon as you add the property to your doctype, it also gets created as a DataType with those specific configurations under the Developer section. See images:
That way, you can re-use that property editor (with the same configurations) for several properties spead out on your website, and just have one place to configure it.
Lets say you have configured a specific RTE with custom configurations. You dont want to have to do this for every place you want to use that RTE. In this case you just reuse the one you already created. All the datatypes you created can be found under the "Reuse" tab: see image:
