Lucene Upgrade - when?

Just saw this today, "...as of today you can start using Lucene.NET 4.8 from your applications."

So, how soon can we start using this in Umbraco?

I believe you'll have to wait until at least Umbraco 8. See http://issues.umbraco.org/issue/U4-8368
