I'm planning on updating a few websites running on UM v7.1.6 to v.7.5.0.
I know I should check the breaking changes throughout all versions I'm upgrading but does anyone has any tips beforehand?
For instance, is it advisable to gradually update minor versions until I reach 7.5.0? Or can I update from 7.1.6 straight to 7.5.0?
When you're on v7 it's always advisable to go straight to the latest version when upgrading. We make the upgrade experience better with each release so it's actually easier and easier to upgrade to the newest version. If you're using nuget now then thar is easiest!
Thanks you very much for the reply. The comparison tool is definitely something I didn't know about and will be of much help as of the diagnosis link. When I'm finished I will post my findings here for other umbracians.

First of all, we now have this handy compare between versions: https://our.umbraco.org/contribute/releases/compare?from=7.1.6&to=7.5.2

If something doesn't quite go to plan, check this blog post to help debug: https://cultiv.nl/blog/how-to-diagnose-umbraco-upgrade-problems/
