    Umbraco 7.4.3 HostingEnvironment initiated shutdown CONFIG change

    hello - Our client has been reporting outages on their production Umbraco website recently. Inspecting the log files indicates something is causing the Umbraco application to restart sporadically. An example as follows:

    2016-09-06 12:39:54,474 [P7768/D14/T66] INFO UmbracoApplicationBase - Application shutdown. Details: ConfigurationChange
    _shutDownMessage=CONFIG change

    HostingEnvironment caused shutdown

    Quite often, the application won’t start back up successfully causing an outage of the website. Which config file would this be?

    Details of the environment are: Umbraco 7.4.3 Windows Server 2008 R2 IIS 7.5

    Thanks

    Hi Andrew,

    We saw this issue as well in the past. Every time a user saved something in the backend the application restarted. Because some files get updated when you save or publish (examine indexes, umbraco.config)

    The cause was a MS update being installed on the server.

    More info in this issue : http://issues.umbraco.org/issue/U4-6338

    Dave

    hi Dave, many thanks for the reply. That ticket seems to be regarding win8 / server 2012. Our server is 2008 R2 and I can't find any confirmation this OS was affected in exactly the same way or if there was a patch? Do you know? thanks
