upgrading Umbraco 4.7.1.1 to 4.11.10 platform

    Hello,

I am in the process of upgrading Umbraco 4.7.1.1 to 4.11.10 platform and in the release note it suggest to upgrade from step by step from one version to another and gradually upgrade it to 4.11.x. However, I do not see older release version listed in the umbraco download. The lowest version number I see is 4.11.8. Does that mean we can directly upgrade to that latest in version 4.11.10 from 4.7.1.1 Or do we have to download each version that was suggested in the release note and upgrade it. If we need to download each version then how can we retrieve the older version of umbraco release.

Any guidance in this regard will be highly appreciated.

Hi Samin and welcome to our.

What I would recommend you to is to first of all take a backup of your site and database, then try to upgrade directly from 4.7.1.1 to 4.11.10 platform using this guide.

    https://our.umbraco.org/documentation/Getting-Started/Setup/Upgrading/general

Then if something unexpected happens, then you can start the upgrading process again, and then try the step by step upgrade.

    Hope this helps,

    /Dennis

Thank you Dennis for the feed back. I tried upgrading directly to the 4.11.10 and it failed couple times. Later, I found out that during merging process with in the config folder, some of the setting needs to be overridden with the new changes and some custom ones to be kept. After those changes it worked like a charm.

    Thanks -Samin
