Migrating/moving site from "on-premises + MySQL" to "Azure PaaS website + Azure SQL Database"
Hi all,
I'm looking for some guidance on how to how to move an existing site with some custom code and MySQL --> to Azure PaaS with Azure SQL Database (i.e. MSSQL).
Note:This isn't just a database migration, but migrating the instance's content including media content & user profiles from on-premises to web site in Azure PaaS, etc.
I've hunted around on these forums, and there seems to be multiple possibilities, though it seems to be up in the air which is recommended.
Create a package with the whole site on the source instance and install on the target instance
Use Umbraco Courier
???
Option 1 seems best, though I don't know if this will even work between instances on the same Umbraco version but with different databases and shared file system providers underneath.
Option 2's doc says using this to 'move' an entire site isn't recommended; don't know if it would even work.
