No database prompt during manual installation

I followed the instructions for Manual Installation and am using IIS 7.5.

Following the instructions on the Umbraco site, I configured my new site correctly in IIS, downloaded the zip file, un-zipped, and was able to open the site through IIS.

I did not get any prompts/installation steps? The installation seemed to run for a minute on its own once I opened the root of my new site in web browser, then the site opened no issues. But I was prompted for nothing during this process

Did I miss some steps? the instruction indicate there should have been a least one prompt for the SQL database config during install. Also, if I did not indicate the SQL Server database to use, what is this demo site using if not a database?

Are there more detailed instructions on how the install should go??

    Thanks!

    Sean

During setup you probably missed the "Customize" button, so just does the simplest thing possible: installs data in a SQLCE standalone database. :)

Thanks for the very quick response. I'd like to use the empty database I created in SQL 2008 per the instructions. Is it too late now to revert to this database, or migrate this installation to that empty database?

If you're just getting started, why not start over? That's easiest.

Otherwise you can try this package: https://our.umbraco.org/projects/backoffice-extensions/export-sql-server-compact/

Or, as mentioned in that package description use WebMatrix or SQL Server Compact Toolbox to move the database data to SQL.

Start over - great idea - so just delete the unzipped files from the web sites directory, and unzip again my original download to same folder, then open in browser to run through install again?

Thanks again for the quick responses and the help!

    Hi

    One more quick question.

I successfully installed Umbraco and created the SQL database via the installation. Yesterday after installation I was able to pen the site and CMS and neither required any login.

Today open the site in a new browser and attempted to open the site in the CMS and its prompting for a username/password? I never created on yesterday and I was logged automatically after in installation.

IS there a default user or admin account created upon installation that I can use?

The first screen during install asks for your email and a password. :)
