I have a 7.5.6 website. On one of my doc types i have media picker. In my media section i have thousands of images. The performance of the media picker is slowly degrading so in some instances when i try to pick image on my content its taking over 1min to load everything up.
One thing is i noticed that my data type media picker is set to Legacy Media picker. Is there anything i can do to speed things up?
Don't know about perf between legacy and "new" media picker but 7.5.11 has performance enhancements to media section and pickers. http://issues.umbraco.org/issue/U4-9545
How many media items are in each folder. I found 50 was a good limit, after that there was performance issues. I'm pretty sure you are forced to create a new folder nowadays.

have you tried a newer media picker or are you limited??
