I currently have a site running Umbraco 6.1.6 and they want to upgrade to Umbraco 7.
I very rarely work on any newer sites so don't know much about U7 so bear with me here...
The site currently uses usercontrols and xslt - is there any down fall to actually upgrading this version of Umbraco to Umbraco 7 rather than re-writing it/parts of it in views? (and obviously fixing ay broken packages)
I can see from the docs that there isn't too many steps to actually upgrade this one
We are planning on getting all of our sites up to date and from that point keeping them to the latest version of Umbraco continually.
Some sites definitely need a re-write as they are REALLY old, but this one I don't know.
Can anyone offer some advice on the best course of action here?

Hi Bex.
You need to read this post by Tim Payne: http://skrift.io/articles/archive/umbraco-upgrade-strategies/.
He goes through pretty much all of your questions, when to upgrade, when to rebuild, how to upgrade etc.
Thanks @Dennis
Just what I needed!
