In the Umbraco back office under members there are two nodes in the tree. Members and All members, can anyone please explain the difference between the two?
In Umbraco it is possible to create multiple member types. One reason for doing this might be to have custom properties for one member type that are not part of another member type.
Umbraco's default installation comes with a member type called "Member". In the back office, you're seeing a filter for that one member type (Member) and the list of all members.
If you create a new member type called, for example, "Special Members", you would then see nodes for "All Members", "Members" and "Special Members".
Each time you create a new member type, you'll see a node to filter for that type in the tree.

I hope that helps. David
Thank you David, that makes perfect sense now.
