    SQL CE Support - since which version?

    Hi,

    Does someone know since which version Umbraco officially supports SQL CE?

    Hi Thorsten,

    Don't know for sure, but I believe since v4.5

    According to this site http://code.leekelleher.com/umbraco/archive/ in v4.5 the support for VistaDb was dropped. I think it got replaced by SQL CE if I remember correctly

    Just to add to what's already been said, I would never recommend SQL Server CE for a live website. It's OK for quick testing and things of that sort, but SQL Server Express is free and better in many ways.

    FYI, I created a YouTrack ticket so that hopefully some messaging can be added to Umbraco to discourage using SQL Server CE (except in sandbox/portable situations): http://issues.umbraco.org/issue/U4-9866
