    Page previews = time out

    Hi all,

I work for a company which uses Umbraco as it's chosen CMS. I am fairly new to my role and have come in with intention of adding a few pages and updating a few older pages to be relevant to the business today. We've had a few problems with our Umbraco package and I'm just wondering if anybody here has any experience with a similar problem. I've consulted our outsourced CRM and hosting company who have specified that the problem could not be replicated from their end.

    1. I have created an ‘advanced page’ called ‘optimised landing page’. I’ve set up various components inside this page (banner, pods, other various modules).

    2. When I click on the base landing page and try to preview, it times me out.

    3. If I preview a specific module, it doesn’t time me out, it loads a preview of just the module on the page.

Is my mistake setting up this new page under ‘home’, or should it be an advanced page within another section?

If anybody is available to run me through page creation via Skype that would be very much appreciated.

    Cheers, Scott

    Hi Scott

Can you debug? What place of the page gives you a timeout?

    Thanks,

    Alex

    Hi Alex,

I only have access to editorial, content and the like. I don't have access to actual backend server/control panel.

The time out only seems to happen when the page isn't actually published yet.

Is it worth trying to host the website locally and adjust there, then send adjustments to the actual admins?

    Cheers, Scott

Definitely, it makes sense to do changes locally and send changes to the actual admins.

    Thanks,

    Alex
