It was resolved by re-creating the test site from its git repository.
This is my first and so far only Umbraco site, and that shows in my design. I never use the template umbHomePage, and the root document does not have that alias. In fact, no document type has that alias. (Did I rename the root document type? I don't remember, I probably did.)
I have no idea what went wrong, but I suppose it is a good idea to use the umbHomePage template for the home page, and also let the root document have that alias. The system allows me to do things differently, but somewhere there may lurk an assumption that I didn't.
"Content type" - the same as document type?
My content is documents, they have a document type.
When error messages refer to "content type", is that a synonym for "document dype" ?
Hi Jan
Yes, documents and content are the same.
What did error say?
Thanks,
Alex
It says
Now, I have a template with that alias.
I thought I had a grip on this problem, see Where are content type aliases used?
But now that I try to re-install my test server, it is raising its ugly head again.
You have to remove reference to "umbHomePage" content type or create it.
Did you solve the issue? Are you using some starter kit?
