Blocking Public Access to the front end of an Umbraco Website
I am brand new to Umbraco CMS. I am not a programmer and do not currently have access to an Umbraco expert. I have a website with a welcome page that appears to block general public access by forcing new viewers to enter shared visitor credentials - guest/password.
I want to un-publish this welcome page so new viewers go directly to the site home page but keep the public access control in place.
I can un-publish the welcome page but the public access control seems to be linked to this page.
Is there an easy way to do this without the need for coding?
Thanks for responding. I tried looking at the Public Access settings on the Welcome page and it did not appear to have anything configured.
So I tried setting up a password on the Home page and using the current site login page for both the entry and error message. This did indeed block the home page but returned me to the welcome page rather than the home page - creating a loop or error depending on if I unpublished the welcome page.
It appears the existing welcome and site login pages are hard coded to work together rather than configured via the Public Access settings. Is there a simple way (e.g. copy) for me to create and use a new site login page I can configure with Public Access setting to specifically work with the home page?
If so, I would be able to un-publish the welcome page and be done.
My screen shots don't show much. The Public Access drop downs are exactly the same for both the Welcome and Home pages. Both show no entries for the single user or role based protection and no file selections for the login or or error message forms. That is why I suspect the welcome page protection is somehow hard coded to a site login page.

Thx in advance for any insite.
Hi Douglas,
You'll want to right click on the homepage > Click Public Access > replicate the settings from your welcome page on there.
You'll likely also need to move the form from the welcome page to your homepage which will probably involve some basic coding.
Hope this helps!
Amir

Thoughts?
If you want to send screenshots / code samples I can take a look. Hard to tell without any details about the setup.
I am certainly open to the help. I will try to enter a few screen shots to explain. It will take me a few minutes to get that all sorted out.

What screen shots do you need to see?
The view / partial views for the welcome page would be helpful.
Sorry but I don't see these for the welcome page. I will try to find some clear and detailed documentation on how to use the public access capability.
Thx for your time.
