Move Dictionary out of Settings section

    Hi

Is there a way or workaround to move the Dictionary out of the Settings panel so that the Editor (or another user group) can only update dictionary items and not play around with document types and templates?

    or

A way to hide other items in Settings panel for the Editor, so that she can only see and edit the dictionary node?

    Best regards.

    Hi Thomsen,

I believe that this is now possible on the latest version of Umbraco (7.11.*). But prior to this, no it wasn't possible.

    Thanks,

    Nik

    Hi Nik

moving the dictionary tree for example to the translation sections works fine. But since 7.12.* the dictionary tree is not visible in the translation section if a user does not have permission to the settings section where the dictionary tree takes originally place. Can you have a look on this issue?

    Thanks

    Mary

Yup, Nik is right - Possible in the 7.11 (SevenEleven, hihi) release and mentioned in the blogpost about the release here https://umbraco.com/blog/umbraco-version-711-release/

Just an update for 7.11.1: you can now put it in any section you want!

    So the default is:

    <add application="settings" alias="dictionary" title="Dictionary" type="Umbraco.Web.Trees.DictionaryTreeController, umbraco" iconClosed="icon-folder" iconOpen="icon-folder" sortOrder="6"/>

Change application="settings" to application="translation" or application="content" or application="media" (don't.. but it should work haha).

    In 7.11.0 it's a bit more limited, but 7.11.1 is amazing :-)

I've also written a package specifically to make it simple for Editors to manage the dictionary entries you can use:

It doesn't seem to work for us with the amount of items we have in the dictionary... :( We have around 60 languages atm...
