    Stage Umbraco Back-Office/Database changes

    Hi,

I've been doing a lot of research on this, but I want to know the best ways to stage Umbraco back office (database) changes from one environment to the other automatically. I'm looking at things such as uSync, but unsure which one is the best approach.

Can someone please advise on this?

    Thanks,

    Yash.

    Hi Yash,

Two ways that I know best.

uSync - It migrates data types etc etc. Fields, Pickers, you name it it migrates it. You basically export it from the environment you want and you import the changes to the environment you feel like.

Now, uSync doesn't migrate Content. To do that you have to use another plugin made by the same person if I remember correctly called uSync.Content. Which basically migrates your content. There's a few good and bad things about uSync but it's one of those things you have to bump into first.

P.S. Main think about uSync that I don't like is that sometimes doesn't clean up after itself.

Courier - This thing migrates everything if I remember correctly. When you use it it basically migrates everything including content. It is paid, though, while uSync is free.

Hi Yash, as Harry has pointed out uSync and Courier are good options. Have been using uSync for a while now and it gets updated regularly to match the latest Umbraco release.

Umbraco have added this kind of functionality into the Umbraco Cloud offering as well if you are using that. There have been talks about making this available outside of Cloud but that is still under development. (will likely replace Courier). https://our.umbraco.com/documentation/Umbraco-Cloud/Deployment/
