Adding Umbraco to an existing MVC site - how?

One of my clients asked that I add content management abilities to an existing MVC website (limited to a few pages rather than the entire site). I'm new to Umbraco so this makes it challenging; I'm trying to understand how to go about making a few pages out of the entire site editable via a CMS (and we're hoping to implement Umbraco on future websites, hence using it over a locally built one).

I'm currently working my way through Umbraco's Creating a Basic Site tutorial but wanted to start thinking about how merging Umbraco with an current MVC site works (esp when I just have a few pages that will need Umbraco's content nodes (and only a few content nodes at that). What's the best way to go about it? Does the entire site have to be rebuilt in Umbraco's back office?

The asp.net mvc integration course covers this exact scenario https://umbraco.com/training/book-courses/application-integration/

Wait, these are in-person courses that I won't be able to attend as my resources are limited. Are there any resources online that would demonstrate how to combine Umbraco with an existing website?
