Duplicate 'Related Links' Data Type - or alternatives (Umbraco 7)
Hi all, hopefully an easy one and I'm just missing something obvious / simple.
I have a need for a variation of the Related Links data type (restricting to 1 link in one case and 3 links in another) but I can't figure out how to do it without changing the settings for every instance of the Related links:
I'm relatively new to Umbraco and am a bit confused why for some Data Types it's possible to create unique settings variations (eg a Media Picker with specific default config) but other Data Types don't allow this.
I've tried to create a new type using the Related Links as the base but it's not in the options list:
The only solution I can currently think of is to make my own custom control (inside App_Plugins) as a duplicate of the Related Links control in the Umbraco package. This seems like a bit of a fudge though so hopefully there's a better way round it!
Thanks for any help, although new to Umbraco, I'm really enjoying building websites with it.
