    User access

    Hello Umbraco friends,

I was wondering if it's possible to have a user in the backoffice that only has access to the Members area?

    Thank you :)

    Hi Raluca,

Yes of course you can. You can create an user group and give the group permissions to the member section only.

Navigate to the user section and create an new group and give permissions to members section only, see image below.

    Hi Eric,

Thank you very much for your reply.

I have tried that already, but when I sign in with my test user, the backoffice is blank, and I get signed out after a couple of minutes.

I wonder what I am doing wrong?

    Hi Dumitru,

Your right, after creating a new group and adding permissions to the member section only I've got a blank screen as well.. strange indeed.

I don't know if it works for you but if you reuse one of the existing groups it seems to work... So use a group like Editors Writers of Translators and remove all sections and add the member section.

    Hi Erik,

I was hoping I don't have to do this, but it seems like its the only solution so far.

    Thank you for your help

    Hi Raluca,

I can imagine but unfortunately.. I created an issue on GitHub: https://github.com/umbraco/Umbraco-CMS/issues/5974

I found an other solution which is maybe better than using one of the existing groups.

    See AndyButland comment on GitHub.

"So a workaround for now would just be to set a media start node. If the user doesn't have access to the media section, they still won't be able to access it."
