Seeking documentation for Document Type Collection

I noticed the choice for a Document Type Collection when creating a new doc type.

This choice is shown in the Umbraco documentation, but it is not addressed specifically. Is it explained somewhere?

Hi Lee,

This feature was released in Umbraco 7.12 for combining parent and child doc type.
