Any Dictionary Item experts? Moving dictionary items
Hi,
Am about to dive into a pretty large conversion of an Umbraco 8 website to multilingual. I'm a bit concerned about the fact that you can't move dictionary items (e.g. change their parent) as we're going to have quite a few, and I can see things getting messy. I was surprised to find zero packages that handle this for Umbraco 8.
I played around a bit with manually changing the "parent" ID value in the dbo.cmsDictionary table in the database, and it worked, but it caused some odd behavior in the backoffice; the item would no longer highlight when selected and wouldn't stay selected when the page was refreshed. It could just be a simple cache thing, but it may also be a sign that direct database fiddling is a bad idea...
Does anyone with knowledge of the details of dictionary items in the database and caches know if this is safe, or if there's a different safe way to change the parent of a dictionary item?
