Site search for Umbraco 8

Hi,

Could anybody suggest the best way for implementing an advanced site search for Umbraco 8? I've tried following this https://codeshare.co.uk/blog/how-to-search-by-document-type-and-property-in-umbraco/ but the SearchHelper method in the Helper class is failing in Umbraco8.
