Hi, as part of a new job I inherited an outdated website using Umbraco 1.8. Trying to upgrade to current version of Umbraco with little experience in manual updating process. Can someone provide links to a walkthrough? I need something one step beyond comprehension of http://our.umbraco.org/wiki/install-and-setup/upgrading-an-umbraco-installation
However to be honest 4.8 is not too far out of date and if you don't have much experience I'd have to argue whether it was worth the effort, are you experiencing any particular problems with 4.8?
I was told by the previous owner of the site that we are running a two year old version. He thought it might be 1.8, But from the splash screen and about info that we're actually running 4.7, d'oh. We're not having tremendous issue with Umbraco 4.7 but were hoping for a friendlier user interface with the build up. If there is no dramatic change then I can put an update on the back burner.

I really hope you mean Umbraco 4.8
To upgrade I would check out this page http://code.leekelleher.com/umbraco/archive/ it has all the old version plus the upgrade paths.
