    Umbraco 6.0?

Has this been tested on ver 6? I just tried to install it. The package seemed to have installed properly; there were no error messages. However, no new nodes were created in the Users tree. I looked over the manual installation section to see what files and settings should have been changed. It appears that all files were installed. However, it appears that nothing else got changed past that point (no database table created, no config file updates). I have installed other packages that modfified config files so this is not a persmissions issue.

Could this be a version specific issue?

Update: I went ahead and finished installing everything manually. Now it seems to work. Still having trouble getting the Ad connection string right, but as far as Umbraco, it seems to be working. I'll let you know if I get it fully functional under 6.0.

It would be great if you got it working, it certainly has not been tested under Umbraco 6. I'll have a look at it myself as soon as possible.

Update: it has now been tested with Umbraco 6, and it works.

    Hello Pete,

I've tested the package with Umbraco 6 now, and everything works as expected.

I did run into two issues. It seemed like the account with which I accessed the database did not have sufficient rights. After making sure this account was db_owner I was able to change the database through a package.

The second problem was that my Umbraco 6 site was installed in a virtual directory, which gave all kinds of unexpected results. After moving Umbraco to the root of an IIS instance I had no problems at all.

Does the account with which you access the Umbraco SQL Server database have sufficient rights to change the database?

    John

Thanks for the reply, John. The db user account for my installation is in the following database roles: db_datareader, db_datawriter, db_ddladmin, and db_securityadmin -- but not db_owner. Are those the correct roles? I don't recall when I did the install if I was instructed to do that. I am always being admoinished by our security person to keep rights as limited as possible. If I need to elevate it during package install and then take it back down, I could do that.

Also, my Umbraco install is in fact a virtual directory. When you say unexpected results, are you just talking about the installation process? Because now that I have everything installed manually, it seems to work except for one small detail: I can't get it to authenticate. But I suspect the problem is with our DC, as we always struggle getting apps to integrate with AD in our shop. I'm still working on that.

    Hi Pete,

About the unexpected results, I found files being installed in subdirectories which shouldn't be there, and which I subsequently removed, but that's only an issue during the installation process.

    Hi Pete,

Did you succeed installing the package?

My apologies for not following up sooner. I am still struggling with getting the AD settings right. Unfortunately, I have been pulled off of this project for now. It may be a couple weeks before I get back to it. Meanwhile, I have out network folks looking into the AD settings for me. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks for all your help.
