Once it is in it's own section, I have a significant number of clients who I am sure will love this! I will do some serious messing about ... I mean testing first though ;-)
That is awesome news... Make sure you get the lastest v1.01
I'll turn my focus to creating a new section (i.e. app) for the package....
I plan on including UI tweaking features (i.e. tree on left or right side).. would that be something you feel would be wanted?
Question: Do you feel this packages makes umbraco documentation obsolete somehow because it's changing some standard UI.. I'm hearing some word about this.
On the other hand you say many clients would appreciate it...I did this initially for a client that wasn't happy with the standard gray UI.
Quite a few of my clients have asked if the backend is customisable - although this doesn't allow you to rearrange stuff or add own logos, etc being able to change the colour scheme to suit their company or shop colours will be a very nice plus to them :-)
UI tweaking ... don't know, what do you mean exactly?
I don't think this makes the umbraco documentation obsolete at all, as your package is not changing the way things work, or even where things are.
By the way, does this package require v4.6.1+ or will it work on older versions?
By layout, I mean positions of some of the areas and maybe a different look for the section icons (i.e. stacked ala Outlook style), maybe even hide the sections area if they only have access to 1 section.
I've only tested on 4.6.1... It should work on 4.5.
I would guess, unless the back office markup hasn't change, it should also work on 4.0 if I check for versions on the pageload event for the right side pages (markup there is a little different), but I need to release a .Net 3.5 compatible version first.
I've released version 2.0... I think you will be pleased by the outcome.
It is now installed into it's own section and has full theme preview as well as experimental layout options I'm working on.. you can turn those off in the config.
First impressions
Overall, this package is awesome - well done!
Some suggestions / observations -
Install it into it's own Section so that users can be given access to it without having access to the rest of the stuff in "Settings"
Some way of previewing a theme would be great.
It's not always easy to see which theme is currently selected, nor is it obvious how to "unselect" a theme and go back to the default.
Already ahead of you.. 1.1 is being worked on as I type.
I'm going to move it to it's own section and adding a theme preview.
There are some other features I'm adding (ala Tweak UI, but for Umbraco... might change the name to Umbraco UI.. :) )
Great suggestions and please test the hell out of it.

Thanks for the insight.

Enjoy!
Just installed v2 on a test site and - personally - I think it's fantastic!!! :-)
I shall definitely be offering this to existing and new clients!
There still a little work to be done.. but I think it's come some ways from 1.0
I appreciate the kudos.
is working on a reply...
