Should work fine. If you're working with Node objects or working in XSLT then it should be fine. To get related items you will have to write something yourself but there's a dirty example of how it can be done in the samples project under 'source' on the package page.

Can I add a field to a custom Media Type that uses categories? And can I retrieve the related items using your methods?
