The Digibiz Advanced Media Picker 2.8 (DAMP 2.8) is a media picker with many awesome features. It can be used instead of the default media picker and is very user friendly. Here is a list of things it can do:
- Store the complete media item in the umbraco xml (umbraco.config) or only the id.
- Store a single or multiple media items in the media picker.
- Define a minimum and maximum amount of media items.
- Define a start node for the media tree. This can be done by a picker or XPath / property alias.
- Choose which file extensions are allowed.
- Choose which Media Types are allowed for selection and creation.
- Edit the media item from the content section.
- Use Pixlr (photoshop look a like) to modify images.
- Fast performance using the Umbraco cache.
- Search in the select dialog.
DAMP 2.5 Samples
If you install DAMP 2.8 it will only add or update the render control. No datatypes will be added. If you want some good examples you can install the DAMP 2.5 Samples package which also works on DAMP 2.8: http://bit.ly/1295mvn
This will add the following things:
- 6 Data Types
- 2 Macros
- 2 Media Types
- 1 Document Type
- 1 Template
- 10 Media items
- 1 Node
DAMP Gallery
I've created a website which uses DAMP to create an image and video gallery. The complete source code is availble so you can see exactly how it works. Read more about it here: http://bit.ly/ZG50MQ
DAMP Property Editor Value Converter
You can install the DAMP Property Editor Value Converter package for easier development in Razor: http://our.umbraco.org/projects/backoffice-extensions/damp-property-editor-value-converterCropUp Support
If you're using the great CropUp package you can now use DAMP to show crop previews in the backoffice. Download the file from the Hot fix / Upgrade Files tab. Unzip the file and overwrite the following files:
/bin/DigibizAdvancedMediaPicker.dll
/bin/DigibizTree.dll
/Umbraco/plugins/DigibizAdvancedMediaPicker/DAMPScript.js
/Umbraco/plugins/DigibizAdvancedMediaPicker/DigibizAdvancedMediaPicker.ascx
/Umbraco/plugins/DigibizAdvancedMediaPicker/EditDAMP.aspx
/Umbraco/plugins/DigibizAdvancedMediaPicker/SelectMediaItem.aspx

Upgrading
If you're using DAMP 2.0 you can just install the DAMP 2.8 package and everything should work. You could also first uninstall the DAMP 2.0 package and than install it.
It´s recommended to check the prevalues in the Data Types to see if everything is still correct after upgrading.
Video
Here is a quick video on how to use the Digibiz Advanced Media Picker + the DAMP Samples package: http://www.screenr.com/gz0s.
DAMP was also showed at CodeGarden 12. You can find the video here: http://bit.ly/S4EAwY
