Formulate Installed, but not available to use

    Umbraco version 7.15.1 assembly: 1.0.7144.21656 Formulate 2.5.3.0

I installed the package via zip file, seemed to go fine, but Formulate is not showing as a tab on the left side ('Content', 'Media', 'Settings', etc). Is there an additional step that I missed? I assumed Forumlate would just drop in that left panel as an new option.

    Thanks, Greg

I think it should automatically give you permission to the Formulate section, but maybe there is some quirk that prevents that (e.g., maybe it only works on the "Administrator" group or something of that sort).

Go to the "Users" section and ensure you have access to the Formulate section.

Thanks for the reply. I checked all User settings, but no luck. Also tried a clean Umbraco install (same version), and when I loaded formulate, same issue came up. I'll keep working with it, but if you have any other ideas/suggestions, love to hear them.

BTW, clean install of Umbraco 8 (latest) and Formulate (latest) did exactly as expected. Unfortunately, my primary site is still on U7.

Hmm, if it's showing up as selected for the group your user account is assigned to, it should appear. I can think about this in more detail tomorrow, but some quick tips for now:

    • Ensure the DLL's are in the bin folder.
    • Ensure there are no server side or client side errors.
    • Clear the various client side and server side caches (e.g., App_Data/TEMP/).
    • Log out and back into your Umbraco account.
    • Ensure the Formulate section icon isn't hidden behind the arrow icon when the screen is short.

If you share a few screenshots, that might help with troubleshooting.

No idea why (perhaps an Umbraco bug or caching of some sort), but here is what worked for me. I went to the users section, clicked on the groups, clicked on the group I am part of, removed "Formulate" from the sections list, added "Formulate" back to the sections list, saved, and refreshed the page. I then saw the Formulate icon on the left:

Screenshot of the Umbraco user groups section showing Formulate annotated.

This is with the same version of Formulate and Umbraco you specified.

...and we have a winner! Thank you. Truth is, I've never played that deep into group settings, so it was new territory for me, but it worked. Thanks for your help.
