I don't have the ability to watch the video in work, is there a comprehensive set of instructions on how to get this working and see it in use?

Try the wiki on installing and setup, and when you get it installed you can see it in use! ;-) After you install and want to get a feel for what Umbraco can do, try installing the Creative Web Starter package.
